A touch of class relief was a key factor in Collective Wisdom finding success – and the winner’s circle – in Thursday’s $2,300 feature for filly and mare pacers at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Gilles Barrieau got away fourth with Collective Wisdom while Drivingthedragon N shot to the top from Post 7 and chopped out an opening quarter clocked in :28.4. She was still the leader at the half in :59.1, but Collective Wisdom was on the attack from first over.
Collective Wisdom showed the lead while racing parked out at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.4, but she used a :29.4 closing quarter to win by a half-length margin over Miss Sangria in 1:57.3. Third prize went to a late-driving Dancers Pass.
Jackie Mathieson trains the six-year-old daughter of American Ideal-Michelles Destiny for Woodmere Farms of Marshfield, PE. Sent off as the 1-9 favourite, Collective Wisdom improved her 2019 record to 5-2-2 from 18 starts. The 18-time winner has banked more than $92,000 to date.
