A set of rich NYSS divisions went postward Monday afternoon at Monticello Raceway, and Smalltownthrowdown scorched the half-mile oval in 1:56.2 for trainer/driver Dan Daley.
Smalltownthrowdown rocketed to the lead from Post 2 and successfully threw down fractions of :27.3, :58.1 and 1:28.1 before sprinting home in :28.1 to win by 8-3/4 lengths over A Jersey Contract. Thats A Bad Boy was third in the $58,000 affair.
It was the fifth win of the year – and the seventh to date – for the career winner of $278,760. Annmari Daley, James Crawford, Donald Brenner and Richard Lombardo share ownership on the three-year-old son of Cash Hall-Anns Promise.
The Royal Harry went to the front and didn’t look back in his $59,100 division. In rein to trainer Ake Svanstedt, the three-year-old son of RC Royalty-Wilsonator marched to the lead and crawled through fractions of :28.4, 1:01.2 and 1:31.1 before turning on the jets and scooting home in :28.3 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Drazzmatazz in 1:59.4. Omaha Set Hut took home the show dough.
Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, the homebred registered his fourth win of the season from just nine attempts. The five-time winner, who boasts a bankroll in excess of $150,000, is owned by Michael Pozefsky and William Pozefsky.
