Believeincaptain Sets Sail To Seventh Straight Score

Believeincaptain crushed his competition by 10 lengths to go seven-for-seven in his young career in Michigan Sire Stakes action for rookie pacing colts on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Northville Downs at Barry Expo Center.

The Allen Sisco-trained Believeincaptain was never in danger, putting up :29.1, :58, and 1:27.3 fractions in front, and he stopped the clock in 1:59 with driver Kody Massey in the bike to take the second of two $15,806 splits for his division. Eleanors Knight (LeWayne Miller) took the place cheque over Captain Butch (Tim Roach).

Believeincaptain, a son of Captain Victorious-Believeincarrie, has now earned $69,590 for owners Oldford Racing LLC and Allen Sisco Stable LLC. He paid $2.10 to win.

Driver/trainer Lewayne Miller won a pair of Michigan Sire Stakes races to go two-for-three in stakes competition. In the first of two $15,181 divisions for two-year-old filly trotters, Miller’s Westwinds Yahtzee ($2.40) carved out fractions of :31.4, 1:03.1, and 1:34.4 and cruised to victory by 4-1/4 lengths in a time of 2:04.1. Weezabouttofindout (David Lake) was second, with Smooth Is Fast (Roach) well back in third. Westwinds Yahtzee, a daughter of Celebrity Pegasus-Keep The Cash owned and bred by Samuel Eicher, has now won four straight starts since her place finish on debut.

Miller won again in the first $15,431 dash for two-year-old filly pacers with Lady Victorious ($2.60), who went all the way with fractions of :31.1, 1:02, and 1:33 in a 2:03 mile. She was 4-1/4 lengths clear of Cocktail Of Dreams (Charles Taylor) in second, followed by Maize N Boo (Roach). Lady Victorious, a Captain Victorious-Arts Meme mare, has won five of six lifetime outings for owner Rockylanes. Miller's final entrant of the day, Eleanors Knight, was a runner-up to Believeincaptain, making Miller’s overall record to four wins and one second in five starts over the first two days of the three-day race week.

What Ma Says ($4.20) took the other rookie colt pace division in 2:02.3, with Lake aboard the son of Captain Victorious-Pv Miracle Mary for trainer Kent Hess and owner Marjorie Deshetsky.

Super Girl Power ($32.40) scored in 2:06.1 in the other group of two-year-old filly pacers. Lake piloted the Bondi Hanover-Running In Heels filly for owner Eugene Schrauben and trainer Marvin Craft.

In the second freshman filly trot tilt, Republican Dream ($9) tallied her second straight victory with a 2:10.3 performance, driven by Don Harmon. Krista Harmon conditions the daughter of Global Republic S-Gourmandise Dream and shares ownership with Don Harmon.

Powerful Ending ($23.40) dominated the first $15,056 division for rookie male trotters in 2:06. John Moody steered the Musical Rhythm-Powerful Mission gelding for trainer Kevin St. Charles and owner ECS Racing LLC.

Banjo Mar ($3) made it a sweep of the colt trot divisions for sire Musical Rhythm, as the gelding out of Shady Lady Mar won in 2:13 for driver Taylor, trainer Ed Brown, and owner William Marquis.

Massey led all drivers on the day with three winners. Harmon, Lake and Miller each had two.

Racing resumes with a special Thursday, Aug. 21 in at Northville Downs at Barry Expo Center with a first race post time of 1 p.m.
