Dalhousie Dave stormed home from the back of the pack to prevail in the $45,000 Open Pace at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday night

Golden Receiver (Randy Waples) crossed over to take the lead from the outside post position during a speedy :26.1 opening quarter over the 'good' track, rated one second slow.

As the field raced down the backstretch towards to the half in :54.2, Meirs Hanover (Sylvain Filion) angled off the pylons and chased down the early leader. Miers Hanover remained in control to three-quarters in 1:22.4 while 6-5 favourite Art Professor (Paul MacDonell) advanced first over from fourth with Hilarious Halo (Jack Moiseyev) following his cover and Dalhousie Dave and driver Scott Zeron spotted third over in sixth.

Meirs Hanover maintained the lead into the stretch, but Dalhousie Dave rallied three-wide and swept past the field with a :26.3 final frame to score the victory in 1:50.2. Broadies Song (Rick Zeron) shot up the rail from last to place with Golden Receiver edging out Art Professor for third.

Dalhousie Dave paid $12.30 to win as the 5-1 third choice. The four-year-old gelded son of Astreos-My Precious Katie is trained by Tony O'Sullivan for owners John and Jim Fielding of Toronto, Ont. The victory was Dalhousie Dave's third in 12 starts and lifted his 2011 earnings to over $92,000 while his lifetime bankroll climbed to over $392,000.

The Murray Brethour-trained Mach Dreamer ($3) delivered on his pari-mutuel promise in the $28,000 Preferred 2 Pace with a winning front-end performance in 1:50.4. Rick Zeron drove the four-year-old son of Mach Three-Boy Meets Girl to his second win in 11 starts this year for the Scarff Legacy Stables of Halifax, N.S. Red Bugler (Keith Oliver) and Grin For Money (Jack Moiseyev) came on for second and third.
