Driver Denis St. Pierre headed to Rideau Carleton Raceway on Friday evening needing just one win to join an exclusive club, and that trip to victory lane came with Cavalry Officer in Race 11
.
St. Pierre, who has driven horses that have banked in excess of $19 million to date, used an off-the-pace approach to guide Cavalry Officer to the 1:59.1 triumph for trainer Gerard Demers. He conditions the gelding for Investissement K F B of Tracy, QC and Andre St. Laurent of Rockwood, ON.
The 2009 season marked the first time since 1999 that St. Pierre didn’t bank in excess of $1 million during that season. He sent out the winners of purse money in excess of $950,00 last season, and he’s already managed to stash away more than $834,000 this year.
St. Pierre currently finds himself ranked fourth among the leading pilots thanks to the 117 trips he’s made to Rideau Carleton Raceway this year.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering congratulations to Denis St. Pierre on the 3,000th victory of his career.
