Records Fall At Leamington Raceway

Crazy World kicked off the Prospect Series action on the Sunday (Aug. 20) afternoon card at Leamington Raceway, picking up his share of the $8,500 purse off a gate-to-wire trip and posting a new track record for sophomore pacing geldings in 1:54.

Derby Dale posted the former track record in 2015 with a time of 1:55.3.

Garrett Rooney and Crazy World settled on the rail as the bettors' choice in the third race. The Kathy Cecchin trainee took command of the field and led by one length as he hit the quarter in :28.2. He opened up to a two-length lead at the half in :57.2 and then three lengths at the three-quarters in 1:25.2. Around the final turn and into the stretch, Crazy World kept distancing himself from his competitors and crossed the wire seven lengths in front in 1:54. Xtra Cheese (Dan Clements) finished second and It Takes Two (Lorne House) took the show spot.

John & Kathy Cecchin own the sophomore Control The Moment gelding as he moved his seasonal and career record to 6-7-2 in 16 starts. Crazy World paid $2.30 to win.

Off at odds of 29-1, Dark Hammock Road was the longshot and upset winner in the final Prospect Series division of the evening, collecting the winner's share of the $8,600 purse. Dark Hammock Road also dropped a track record on Sunday afternoon for sophomore trotting colts.

Danangus N Donald (Dan Clements) was the first to take command of the field of six, leading his pack to the quarter in :28.2. His efforts were followed by Acefortyfour Elvis (Nicholas Steward) and Dark Hammock Road (Anthony Hamlin). Hamlin was the first to make a move, pulling first over as they approached the half in :58.4. He continued to chip away at the lead and sat second on the outside as Danagus N Donald clicked the three-quarters in 1:29. After a stretch battle, Dark Hammock Road prevailed by a half length in 2:00. Danagus N Donald took second and Acefortyfour Elvis was third.

Michael Hamlin owns and trains the son of Muscle Mass as he earned his first career win. Dark Hammock Road paid $60.10 to win.

Delightful Leader took his $8,500 Prospect split after making every pole a winning one.

Delightful Leader and Garrett Rooney controlled the tempo through panels in :28.2, :59.4 and 1:29.4 before charging down the lane to a three-length achievement in 1:58.2. Pebble Beach Pro (Lorne House) was second and Briggs (Nicholas Steward) rounded out the top three.

Melissa Lamoureux trains the son of Bettors Delight for 8113564 Canada Ltd as he collected his eighth career win.
