Following a 10th place finish Friday evening at Mohawk Racetrack, the connections of Artimittateslife have decided to call it a career for the bay mare on the track
.
The six-year-old has career earnings of $997,901 for owner-breeders Robert Young and Paul Gazzola of Guelph, Ont. and Brian Barton of Carlisle, Ont. Young also handled the training duties of his stable star, who took a mark of 1:51.3 as a three-year-old in the Trillium Stakes at the Campbellville oval. Her biggest payday came with a second place finish to O'Brien Award winner Chancey Lady in the $733,031 Fan Hanover that year.
"She's been a tremendous horse for us throughout her entire career," Young said. "One thing about her was her soundness, she is probably one of the soundest horses I've ever been involved with. Of course, it would be nice to get her over a million, but she's in foal and were doing what's best for her."
Artimittateslife, a daughter of Art Major-Oven Mitt, has put together a record reading 21-20-19 in 108 career starts and is currently in foal to Rocknroll Hanover.
