Mohawk Racetrack rolled out the red carpet once again for the two-year-old trotting fillies, as an army of this province’s finest freshmen were out to do battle in another round of O.S.S. Gold Series eliminations

.

Beach Party AS took the first of the four $40,000 eliminations, and she did so as a 6-1 upsetter. Peter Wallinder guided the Anette Lorentzon-trained daughter of Kadabra-Donella AS to the maiden-breaking triumph in a time of 1:59.3. The second-time starter defeated Harlow Seelster and Shez So Striking.

Bred and owned by ACL Stuteri AB of Paris, KY, Beach Party AS has banked $20,000 to date.

Enchantment lowered her lifetime mark to 1:58.1 in the second elimination for the team of driver Keith Oliver and trainer Bill Companion. The daughter of Angus Hall-Madam Super Bowl was treated to a second-over trip, and she didn’t let it go to waste. She vaulted off cover and kicked home in :28.2 en route to picking off pacesetter Oh Sweet Baby, who finished second. Third prize went to South Bay.

Common Sense Stable of Rockwood and Kor Stable Limited of Guelph, ON share ownership on the two-time winner, who doubled her lifetime earnings to $40,000 with the winning effort.

Eagle Canada pulled a 25-1 rabbit out of her hat for Team McNair in the third elimination. The homebred daughter of Kadabra-Sturdy Lori kicked off cover coming off the final turn and launched a huge kick to post the 1:59.2 upset over Dancin Darlin (Steve Condren). Race favourite Extraordinaire, who laid down easy splits of :28.4, 1:00.2 and 1:30.3, faded to finish third.

It was a maiden-breaking score for Eagle Canada, who is owned by Frank Dettore Horse Racin of North Ridgeville, OH. She has managed to bank $22,325 in her first four tries.

Peach Martini turned out to be the quickest elimination winner on the card by virtue of her 1:57.3 tally for trainer/driver Rick Zeron. The Striking Sahbra-Armbro Martini miss took the field to the quarter in :28.2 before giving way to My Whispering Eye on the way to the half-mile marker. That filly threw down middle splits of :58.3 and 1:28.1, but she couldn’t fend off a rallying Peach Martini in the closing strides. Peach Martini used a :28.4 final quarter to win by two lengths in 1:57.3 over My Whispering Eye and Life Class.

Rick Zeron Stables, Rojan Stable, Michael Katz and Stephen Waldman share ownership on the winner of $99,000 to date. The $25,000 purchase from the 2009 Harrisburg Yearling Sale has put together a 3-1-0 record in the first five starts of her career.
