Super Duper Cooper took command early and defended down the stretch to win the $23,239 Open Handicap Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday, Aug. 1.
Super Duper Cooper bolted to the front from post six for driver Braxten Boyd and had no opposition to his leadership through :27.4, :57.2 and 1:25.2 fractions. Blackhawk Zette (Ridge Warren) left the pylons on the final turn and battled the leader into the stretch, closing with every stride but a head short as Super Duper Cooper held on to win in 1:53.2. Deadline Hall (Tom Merton) was third.
Super Duper Cooper stayed in town following his Open win last week when shipping in from Pocono Downs for trainer Enrico Robinson. The five-year-old son of E L Titan-Pink Power has won five of his 22 starts this year and is 17-for-73 lifetime. He paid $2.82 to win.
Boyd also won with Campanzia ($2.10), Apex Tracker ($3.10) and Bright Expectation ($2.82) for a grand slam on the nine-race program. Ridge Warren had a driving double.
Tioga Downs hosts its next card on Sunday starting at 12:30 p.m.
