Capteur De Reve Repeats At Rideau

Off a victory in the top class at Rideau Carleton Raceway two weeks ago, Capteur De Reve returned to the races to win again in the $9,200 Preferred Trot on Sunday (Aug. 2).

Sent the even-money favourite, Capteur De Reve cleared command from post 2 and turned away every challenge mounted. First Wildwild Men parked to a :28.3 quarter before ducking into the pocket, then Keepall charged uncovered following a break at the start to contest for the lead past a :57.3 half.

Keepall promptly faltered moving to the backside, but Boo Thang soon tipped first over from fourth and ranged towards the temposetter nearing three-quarters in 1:26.3. However Boo Thang stalled around the last turn and only gave pursuit through the stretch as Capteur De Reve hit the finish one-and-a-half lengths better in a 1:56 mile. Wildwild Men took third.

A six-year-old gelding by Muscle Mass, Capteur De Reve won his third race from six starts this season and his 22nd from 63 overall, earning $265,927. Maxime Velaye conditions the $4.00 winner for owner-breeder Ecurie Provoquante. Jonathan Lachance sat in the bike.

Lit De Rose later rolled from post 6 to a wire-to-wire score in the $9,200 Preferred Pace to give driver Lachance and trainer Velaye a sweep of the evening’s features.

Taking the field to the quarter in :27.1, Lit De Rose led under mild pressure from 6-5 favourite National Debt, who failed to cross to the pylons and parked the mile. National Debt stayed close to Lit De Rose through a :56.1 half and by three-quarters in 1:24.1 but made no advance into the final turn. Instead Lit De Rose edged away from the competition, extending to a two-length win in 1:53.1 over Atomic Million AM and Vanilla Malted, both of whom finished second in a dead heat.

Owned by Guy Corbeil, Lit De Rose won her second race from five starts this season and her 14th from 43 overall, earning $152,067. The five-year-old Leader Bayama mare paid $10.20 to win.
