Call Me Richard won three straight editions of the Preferred 2 Trot at Georgian Downs in the month of June before failing to hit the board four consecutive starts during the month of July.
Trainer Clare Bradshaw watched him bounce back for a 1:55.3 triumph in Tuesday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 assignment at Georgian Downs, and he did so in gate-to-wire fashion.
J Harris took advantage of the pole position with Call Me Richard, who shot to the top and whacked out fractions of :27.3, :57.3 and 1:26.2 before using a :29.1 closing quarter to win by 5-1/2 lengths over Missys Ga Ga. Landonfitz grabbed the show dough.
The four-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Olympic Dreams improved this year’s record to 5-3-3 from 15 starts with the win. Princeton Farms Inc of Scotland, Ont. owns the 11-time winner who lifted his lifetime earnings to $119,875 with the triumph.
Domedomedome also hit a rough patch in recent weeks for trainer Jack Moiseyev, who guided the mare to a bounce back win of her own in Tuesday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 Trot at Georgian Downs.
Sent off as the 9-5 favourite, the five-year-old daughter of Deweycheatumnhowe-Mojo N The Morning was treated to a second-over trip behind Summit City Nate in the final half of the contest. Donicus lit up the teletimer at the first two intervals of :28 and :59 before Summit City Nate worked his way to the lead. He took the field past the three-quarter pole in 1:27.4, but Domedomedome marched to the lead with a :28.3 closing panel. She won by three-quarters of a length over Summit City Nate in 1:56.4. Lets Leavem was third.
Joanne Colville of Moffat, Ont. bred and co-owns the career winner of $162,700 with partner Pam Schmidt of Hagersville, Ont. The trotter has racked up six wins this year and 13 in her career.
