One of the top young trainer/driver combinations in the Maritimes drove away on Friday night with Lyndale Royal, taking the $5,000 Kelti Burnett Memorial Pace in 1:56.4 at Connell Park in Woodstock, N.B.
Driver Dale Spence Jr. and trainer Jonah Moase, who have teamed up for track records like Big League in Saint John, were back in form on Friday night. Lyndale Royal earned his third straight win for trainer Moase.
Gilles Barrieau and Darth Bader were the early leaders in the race after a sizzling opening quarter of :27.1. Joseph Michael ran out of race track late in the mile and got up to be second for Todd Trites. Veteran Dance Hanover and Stephen Trites were third ahead of a fading Darth Bader, who wound up in fourth spot.
Spence and Moase also teamed up to win the previous race with Barrett Jackson.
