Friday morning saw the last of the qualifiers for the 2013 season at the Meadowlands Racetrack, and ultimately the final session to be held in front of the soon-to-be old grandstand.
North America Cup, Meadowlands Pace and Hempt Memorial winner Captaintreacherous put on quite a display in his qualifier (Race 5), as he paced a dazzling 1:50.1 mile, which was capped off with a :25.4 final quarter mile.
Away from the races on a planned respite since his Meadowlands Pace tour-de-force on July 13, 'The Captain' looked pleased to be back in action Friday morning, as he romped to a long lead in the stretch while under restraint by his pilot, Tim Tetrick.
Captaintreacherous left from Post 3, lead at every call (:27.2, :55.3, 1:24.2) and won by a total of 15 and a quarter lengths.
The pride of Captaintreacherous Racing, trained by Tony Alagna and managed by Myron Bell, is reported to be headed to Pocono Downs for the Battle of Brandywine, a part of Super Stakes Saturday on August 17.
