Stmikes Kerryblues stayed perfect in the Prospect Series as he blew away his opponents in the second $8,000 division of Leg 4B for three-year-old trotting males on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at a rain-drenched Georgian Downs.
Over a sloppy surface rated -3 with the weather worsening, Stmikes Kerryblues reached the front in a flash for Damian MacLellan and produced :29.2 and :59.1 fractions through the first half. The field was unable to stay with him past the midway point, and he expanded his lead to more than 10 lengths through three-quarters in 1:28.2, cruising home a 12-1/4-length winner in 1:58.2. Bonito Boy (Ed Hensley) was second, followed by Influencer (Jay Harris).
Stmikes Kerryblues has won in every leg of the Prospect Series this year and is currently on a four-race winning streak for trainer Kyle Fellows. The Green Manalishi S-Wilsonator gelding is seven-for-13 on the whole this season and has won eight of his 24 career outings with earnings of $60,883. He is owned by Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood, Ont., Ed Wilson of Seagrave, Ont., Steve McGill of Bewdley, Ont. and Patrick Dillon of Port Hope, Ont. He paid $3.10 to win.
Eight Way Roller ($4.80) took the first split for colts and geldings in a wire-to-wire effort clocked in 2:01 for driver Samuel Fillion and trainer Julie Walker, who co-owns the Muscle Mass-Royaltys Pearl gelding with 1143079 Ontario Inc., Nancy Holmes, and Yvon Parmentier.
Tymal Emerald ($16.70) upset in the fastest of three filly divisions, firing three-wide from sixth on the final turn and surging to a 2:01 victory with trainer Mark Etsell at the lines of the Green Manalishi-Tymal Reign filly for owner Tymal Farms.
D A Dream Girl ($14.40) built a nine-length lead in the third quarter and held on in the stretch to win the first division for distaffs in 2:01.1 for Harris. Jeff Thomson trains the daughter of Muscle Mass-Dream Taker and shares ownership with Lori Thomson, Glenn Tarver, and Murray Brethour.
The final filly split went to Its Not My Vault ($5.20), who vaulted off second-over cover to score in 2:01.4 with Fillion driving her for trainer Kim Baxter. Baxter co-owns the daughter of The Bank-Moms Apple Pie with Coyote Wynd Farms.
The final two races of the card were cancelled after Race 8 due to unsafe track conditions.
