Indiana Sires Stakes action returned to Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Wednesday (Aug. 18) as three-year-old trotting fillies squared off in two $48,000 fifth-round divisions of their eight-round series.
Country Girl Charm delivered as the heavy favourite in the opening division with trainer LeWayne Miller in the bike. Stopping the timer in 1:54.3, Country Girl Charm overcame a first-over trip to win by nearly three lengths. Treasure Gems K and Sam Widger rallied well up the inside to get up for second while Sister Jean and Trace Tetrick rounded out the trifecta.
Owned in partnership by Ryan Raber, L&S Racing, D&S Stable and JW Stable, Country Girl Charm recorded her second win from six seasonal starts. The daughter of Whom Shall I Fear and Tymal Tatiana sent her lifetime purse earnings over the $200,000 mark with the victory. She paid $3.00.
In the second stakes division, Swift Swanda returned to Harrah’s Hoosier Park with an open-length 1:53 score. After taking Grand Circuit company in her last two starts, Swift Swanda went gate to wire with driver Trace Tetrick. Dewtiful’s Grace and LeWayne Miller rallied well for second while Shirley Goodness and Peter Wrenn were third.
The daughter of Swan For All and Cheetah Hall notched her sixth win from eight trips behind the gate this season for trainer Erv Miller and the partnership of Anthony Lombardi and The Kales Company LLC. Swift Swanda has now amassed $355,180 in lifetime purse earnings. She, too, returned $3.00 to win.
Indiana Sires Stakes action will continue at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Thursday (Aug. 19) with a single $95,000 event for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.
