Belangers Rule At Sudbury

Gerry Belanger enjoyed a successful night in the bike winning five times on the 12-race card on Wednesday night at Sudbury Downs while Philippe Belanger earned a

training triple.

Gerry began the Belanger winning crusade when he guided his own pupils, Lindy Five Hundred (1:59.1) and Armbro Dalliance (1:56.3), to victory in the fifth and seventh races. Gerry then paired with Phil for back-to-back wins starting in the ninth race with Its Art To Believe (1:57) and Odee Tuff (2:01.1). Phil made it three-in-a-row when Pbnjam (2:02) prevailed in the 11th dash with Richard Turcotte driving, then Gerry closed out the card with a win aboard the Jean Noel Leblanc-trained Jeneract (1:59.2).

With his victories, Gerry boosted his yearly win total to 49 and earnings to nearly $280,000. The resident of Barrie, Ont. owns a career record that includes 1,358 wins and over $6.5 million on earnings.

Phil, who resides in Azilda, Ont., now has 13 victories on the year with over $100,000 in purse earnings. In his career, he has sent a total of 852 winners postward and earned over $3.4 million in purses.
