Ontario Sires Stakes graduate Mach It So (Brian Sears, $2.70), the odds-on favourite, delivered on a short promise Saturday night, winning Yonkers Raceway's $44,000 Open Handicap Pace.
Away into a gaping three-hole from post position No. 4, Mach It So saw Dream Out Loud N (Eric Goodell) lead through intervals of :26.4 and :56 seconds flat.
Mach It So -- back here for the first time since a dreaded eight-hole in late April's final of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series -- went after the leader toward a 1:23.4 three-quarters, but the leader wasn't ready to give up the ghost.
Mach It So did finally wear down his foe mid-lane, edging away by a length and a quarter in 1:51.2. Dream Out Loud N held second, with Rock On Moe (Larry Stalbaum), The Real One (Pat Lachance) and Life Up Front (Eric Carlson) settling for the remainder.
For Mach It So, four-year-old Mach Three gelding owned by Bamond Racing and trained by PJ Fraley, it was his sixth win in 14 seasonal starts. The exacta (two wagering favourites) paid $8.50, with the triple returning $55.
