Pennsylvania's Lawrence County has been patiently waiting for Centaur Inc. to erect Valley View Downs & Casino ever since the company was awarded a harness racing license on September 5, 2007. Funding has been the issue
through these tough economic times, but interested parties are still holding their collective breath.
"The financial markets traditionally take a hiatus during August," Centaur spokeswoman Susan Kilkenny was quoted as saying in a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article. "However, we continue to aggressively pursue strategic alternatives for the development and successful launch of Valley View Downs & Casino."
"We in the industry sure want to see that track built," Jim Simpson, president of Hanover Shoe Farms, was quoted as saying.
