A pair of track records fell by a second on the seven-race card at The Track on 2 on Sunday (Aug. 16).

Midway through the afternoon, Oriental Express paced a wire-to-wire mile in a $4,000 conditioned pace to stop the clock in 1:55 under little challenge through fractions of :27.4, :58.2 and 1:26.1. The three-year-old pacing filly by Mystician bested the previous mark of 1:56 set two weeks ago by Watch Me Boogie. Richard Remillard trains and co-owns the $12.40 winner for Jim Wilson and Valerie Emerson, and also fulfilled the driving duties.

In the following race, trainer-driver Dave Kelly wired his competition with 3-2 favourite HF Thegreatpumpkin in a $4,900 conditioned pace. Speeding through splits of :26.3, :54.3 and 1:22.3, HF Thegreatpumpkin clung to a slimming lead to win by a head in 1:52, beating the previous track record for an aged pacing gelding of 1:53.4 set by Justabitcrazy in Oct. 2019. Kelly co-owns the four-year-old Pang Shui gelding with Paul MacDonald and Donald McDougall. He paid $5.00 to win.
