With harness racing's top three-year-olds in action both north and south of the border this weekend, one of the most consistent colts in the division
has been conspicuously absent.
Art Colony, who had never finished worse than second in his career, picked a bad time to have his first off-the-board performance. He finished ninth in the Meadowlands Pace, over 15 lengths back of Well Said.
"Art Colony got sore and sick, nothing major," trainer Casie Coleman told Trot Insider, "but he's back on track now."
Coleman continued to discuss that the Artsplace-Asleep On The Beach colt is back in training after some time off.
"We went in 2:20 with him on Wednesday (August 12) and we're looking to go 2:15 with him on Saturday (today)."
If all goes according to plan, Art Colony will return for Grand Circuit action at Mohawk Racetrack.
"We're trying to have him ready for the Simcoe and then he'll be off to Lexington. He's also paid into the Breeders Crown and the Matron."
