Hyperion Hanover In A Shocker

The $40,000 Preferred Pace at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday evening produced a thrilling finish, and Hyperion Hanover kicked back a fantastic payout after circling the field for driver Rick Zeron

.

The Rob Fellows-trained stalwart, who was sent off at odds of 51-1, was last at the quarter, half and three-quarter calls before he kicked into another gear. The six-year-old son of Camluck-Hattie uncorked a :26-second final panel to sail past eight rivals for the 1:50.3 decision. Balanchine was next best, and Raw Energy took home the show dough.

Owned by S S G Stables of North Boston, NY, Hyperion Hanover won for the fourth time this season and for the 25th time in his career. The $20,000 payday lifted his 2009 bankroll to $152,750, and it pushed his career purse haul to $736,543.
