Canada's leading driver James MacDonald continued his winning momentum on Friday evening (August 13) with a five-win performance highlighted by So Much More's score in the weekly $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

So Much More took control at the :26.4 quarter and carved out middle splits of :55.2 and 1:23.3 before holding off the popular pocket-pursuer Major Occasion A (Trevor Henry) and second choice Lit De Rose (Louis-Philippe Roy) for the half-length victory in a season's best 1:50.1.

Sent postward as the 2-1 third pick, So Much More returned $6.90 to win.

Don Beatson trains and co-owns the five-year-old daughter of Big Jim with Kenn Beatson of Palgrave Ont., and Cole England of Exeter, Ont.

In 14 starts this year, So Much More has earned $131,300 with six Preferred victories to go along with five runner-up finishes. A 37-time career winner, she has banked $675,667 to date.

MacDonald also drove a quartet of three-year-old pacing filly winners throughout the 12-race card: Best Keepsake ($4.50) for trainer Anthony Beaton, Cyclone Sister ($18.40) and Sweet Pink ($11.60) for the Nick Gallucci stable, and the Jason Ryan-trained Good Night Moon ($5.20).
