The red hot John MacDonald continues to put on a clinic at Vernon Downs thanks in part to the five-win performance he manufactured over that oval on Friday afternoon’s 13-race card.
MacDonald got the ball rolling in Race 2 with Reckless Image (1:56.1), and he came back to win consecutive races with Dream On A Roll (1:54 – Race 4) and Lucky Sevens (1:56.1 – Race 5).
He returned to victory lane in Race 8 with Fiona (1:55.4) and capped off his productive day at the office with a triumph in Race 9 with A Lister (1:56.4).
MacDonald has racked up 54 wins this season and more than $200,000 in purse earnings to go with. To date, he’s reined in 4,100 winners while banking close to $21 million in purse earnings.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday featuring three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes for freshmen trotting fillies. The 15-race card starts at 3 p.m.
