Angels Express ($2.90) and driver Tyler Miller won the $10,500 featured trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (Aug. 12).
Angels Express led to the quarter in :29.1. He used a :30.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :59.2. The Black Ace (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) went first-up from third and challenged for the lead going down the backstretch. Angels Express held a short lead and led to three-quarters in 1:27.4. As they turned for home, Angels Express dug down deep and found another gear to win easily in 1:57.2. The Black Ace had to settle for second. Holy Being (Mike Merton) finished third.
Angels Express is a four-year-old gelding by Archangel, owned by the Andy Miller Stable and trained by Julie Miller. It was his second win this season and his sixth career victory.
Tyler Miller had a driving triple on the night.
