The three-year-old trotting fillies of the New York Sire Stakes visit Monticello Raceway on Monday, August 15. They will race in two $57,000 divisions, each race a five-horse contest.
Race 3 is the first division of NYSS. Perfect Vixen has been installed the morning line favourite and will score from the rail with her usual pilot, John Stark, Jr. She sports an impressive resume. In 14 starts, she has had nine trips to the winner’s circle and $64,000 in purses. She moves up in class this week. Gertrude (PP4) has won two consecutive races in the Excelsior A class. This will be her first foray in this class. She’ll be driven by Tyler Miller for trainer Julie Miller.
Valentina Blu (PP5) raced against the best last season, where she banked over $336,000. She won a NYSS earlier this year at Yonkers Raceway in 1:55.4. The daughter of Chapter Seven will be driven by Joe Bongiorno for trainer Tony Alagna and is owned by Crawford Farms. Gettinmystepsin has been a model of consistency this season, only missing a cheque in one start. She will start from Post 4 for Team Orange Crush (driver Tyler and trainer Julie Miller).
