Donald and Leander Beaton's Docs Ronhenry ($10.10) rose to the top of the Inverness Raceway class ladder on Wednesday evening (Aug. 12) and did not disappoint, holding his ground for a 1:58.3 score — his second straight — in the featured $1,250 winners-over pace.
Trainer Leander Beaton sent the nine-year-old son of Million Dollar Cam through at the pegs to protect early control through a :29 first quarter, but the pair found no breathers at any point in the mile. Docs Ronhenry faced steady first-over pressure from Bonnys Mac through middle splits of :58.3 and 1:29.1, and after shrugging that rival off braced for a late push from odds-on favourite Modern Best — whom Redmond Doucet swung three-wide off stalled cover around the far turn. Docs Ronhenry found the line in time, winning by three-quarters of a length over Modern Best. Brookdale Buster finished third.
Docs Ronhenry has won 22 races from 121 starts in his career, including three victories in 12 starts this season.
