Pasadena Star Stays Straight At Rideau

Avoiding half-mile confusion by racing on the lead, Pasadena Star had the easiest route to the finish line when taking the $8,600 Preferred Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Trainer-driver Stephane Pouliot cleared Wildwild Men past a :27.3 opening quarter and cruised to the half in :58.1. Race-favourite Wildwild Men went onto a brief a gallop moving past the stands and caused interference with the field, knocking Neon Lights on a gallop while scattering the outer tier. The incident opened a six-and-a-half length gap between the field and Pasadena Star as the eight-year-old Kadabra gelding passed three-quarters in 1:26.4 and strolled into the stretch with a diminishing lead. Wildwild Men recouped lost ground to take second but was disqualified to eighth for the interference. Ice O Late was placed second while Lmc Mass Gem moved into third.

Owned by 9096 9205 Quebec Inc. and Pierre Mineault, Pasadena Star won his eighth race from 25 starts this season and his 39th from 167 overall, earning $411,639. He paid $6.00 to win.
