The Nathan Sobey stable enjoyed a perfect day at the races on Sunday afternoon (August 12), sending out three winning starters at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino.
The first Sobey trainee to reach the winner's circle was six-year-old Camite B And E ($11.10), who prevailed in a five-across finish in the second race. The fifth race ended in another close finish with sophomore gelding Mortgage My Villa ($3.90) scoring by a neck in a lifetime-best 1:54.4 as he moved out of stakes competition. John MD ($5.20) notched his second straight victory in the ninth race finale for Sobey, winning by two and three-quarter lengths off a pocket trip.
Sobey, who drove all three pacers, pushed his seasonal win total to a career-high 32. He's earned 28 of those wins at Century Downs to rank second on the local leaderboard in a three-way tie with Rod Hennessy and Kelly Hoerdt. Sanford Campbell currently leads all trainers with 35 wins.
Trainer/driver Dan Leblonc had a perfect day as well with back-to-back, first-time winners in three-year-olds Cooltobeamach ($6) and the debuting Outlawdancwthedevl ($12). Trainer Dan Sifert also doubled up on the day.
