Update On NJ Beach Races

It has been reported that a delegation from Italy will be making the trek to New Jersey for the American Palio horse race, which is planned to be raced on the beach along in Atlantic City this October.

An article by pressofatlanticcity.com states that members of the delegation will not be contesting the event, but will be there as part of a goodwill gesture.

The report states that the Atlantic Beach races are expected to attract up to 50 horses, and that the event is being reduced from a two-day event to one.

In June, the state legislature passed a bill, which would allow the New Jersey Racing Commission to sanction the beach races.

The report states that Governor Chris Christie is expected to sign the bill 'soon.'
