Shimmering Hanover, after rallying from eighth at three-quarters to victory a week ago, made an earlier move to similar success in the $24,000 featured conditioned trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, Aug. 10.
Bob McClure floated out with the 2025 Champlain Stakes winner and slid her in sixth going to a :28.2 opening panel, then brought her out for a march straightening onto the backstretch. Shimmering Hanover hit the top at the half in :57.3, the third lead change after the quarter, and trotted to three-quarters in 1:26.3 with Dusty Roads (Tyler Borth) taking aim first-up. McClure maintained a firm hold on Shimmering Hanover as the filly powered home in :28, building separation to Dusty Roads late to score in 1:54.3. Gucci Gucci Goo (Louis-Philippe Roy) charged from third-over to take second by two lengths. Dusty Roads finished third.
Shimmering Hanover’s win was her fourth this season in nine starts and third in a row. The three-year-old daughter of Captain Corey-Star Hanover finished third in the Grade 3 Casual Breeze earlier this year and in last season’s Grade 1 Peaceful Way Stakes. Trained by Luc Blais for Determination of Montreal, Que., the filly has five victories and $175,252 in earnings from 17 career appearances. She returned $2.80 to win.
