"Looking at it, I'd say he's the most talented driver there. So if everything goes well and he has fortune, I don't think it would surprise anyone if he wins."

With the debut of Ontario Racing Unfiltered, fans of harness racing have been able to see a bit more of Doug McNair's personality when not sitting in a racebike. In advance of the 2023 World Driving Championship, Trot Insider took a deeper dive into the character that is Canada's representative for the driving challenge taking place over three European countries next week and what the competition should know about the Guelph, Ont. resident.

Who better to provide insight into travelling with and driving against McNair than those who've done it, and done it often?

In this video, hear from a Hall of Famer, a World Driving Champion and three O'Brien Award winning drivers — including two drivers who were part of the 2019 World Driving Championship in Sweden. The participants:

  • Yannick Gingras, Hall of Famer and 2019 World Driving Championship runner-up
  • James MacDonald, 2017 World Driving Champion and two-time O'Brien Award winner as Canada's Driver of the Year
  • Bob McClure, 2020 O'Brien Award winner as Canada's Driver of the Year and five-time finalist
  • Louis-Philippe Roy, three-time O'Brien Award winner and twice the O'Brien Award winner as Canada's Driver of the Year

Hear from these four esteemed individuals on what it's like to travel with and drive against McNair, and what they think makes him one of Canada's — and the world's — best reinsmen.
