Back in action on Friday night (Aug. 11), three-year-old pacer Chesapeake Sunrise picked up where he left off four weeks ago at Kawartha Downs, continuing a win streak dating back to the start of June.

Chesapeake Sunrise earned his seventh straight victory at the Fraserville, Ont. oval with a 1:56.3 front-end effort in the $4,900 sixth race for driver Samuel Fillion and trainer Kyle Fellows. The Shadow Play gelding's Kawartha streak accounts for all of his wins and has boosted his career bankroll to $24,520 after 19 starts. He is owned by Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood, Ont. and Randy Ferris of South Woodslee, Ont.

Despite the layoff and being scratched sick from a July 21 start, the betting public had faith in the sophomore making him the 4-5 favourite in a field of nine and he didn't disappoint. Chesapeake Sunrise moved to the lead as the field passed the opening quarter and kept his rivals at bay the rest of the way. He paid $3.90 to win. Oh Coffee Bean, the 3-1 second choice, closed within three-quarters of a length at the end while early leader Sage Duharas completed the top three order of finish along the pylons.
