After registering wins over 12-furlong and two-mile trips in his two previous starts, Michel Allard's Appleby Hanover ($3.60) prevailed comfortably in the $10,000 5 Milles Casino-Charlevoix held Sunday in St-Aimé des Lacs, Québec.

Dany Mainguy and the six-year-old Well Said entire led the entire five-mile journey, drawing clear of Bet I Can Fly to win by 15 lengths in 11:31.

It was a repeat victory for Appleby Hanover in the 5 Milles after being elevated to victory over a disqualified Montana Ben in last year's installment.

On the undercard of the 5 Milles, one track record got matched and another got lowered. Atomic Sena ($3.70) equaled the mark for three-year-old pacing colts in a $1,400 conditioned event, hitting the finish a head better than pacesetter Gambler Panic in 2:02.4. Missionoftheheart lowered the mark for aged trotting mares a few races later with an 18-length victory in a $3,000 invitational. Her 1:59.4 mile lowered the previous record of 2:03 set by Beer Maggs.
