Machthemoment continued his dominance over the Preferred pacers at St. John’s Racing & Entertainment Centre on Wednesday evening while Our Ryall Flush put forth the fastest effort yet for a three-year-old filly at the half-mile
track in Goulds, Newfoundland, which was rated ‘good’ and one second off.
Wednesday’s $640 Preferred Pace was full of Forwards but it was trainer-driver Rod Forward who came out on top with Machthemoment. The six-year-old son of Mach Three-Memorable Moments rallied from off the pace to prevail by a length and a quarter in 2:01.3 over the three Scott Forward pupils in the field. Jokers Jackpot (Shane Forward), who showed the way through fractions of :29.2, :59.4 and 1:30.1, finished second. Jerry Mcguire (Robert Forward Jr.) and Treasure Me Flurry (Scott Forward) rounded out the field.
The win was Machthemoment’s third in a row and added to his impressive seasonal record, which reads 9-5-1 in 15 starts. The chestnut gelding is owned by Jeanette Newell of Coleys Point South and Justin Newell of North Valley, NL.
Earlier on the card Shane Forward drove three-year-old pacing filly Our Ryall Flush to a 2:03 victory for owner-trainer Carl Ryall, lowering May Island Mist’s track record by three-fifths of a second. The daughter of Twofunnyforwords-Ma Parker, a winner of six races in 13 starts this year, bested Camco Norilla (Rod Forward) by a length and a quarter while Whitesand Dimples (Robert Forward Jr.) finished third.
