The featured event on Tuesday (August 9) at Running Aces was the $6,000 Two-Year-Old Open Pace, and it showcased another display of talent from filly WhatitdoBabyBoo.
The daughter of Voracious Hanover put forth a come-from-behind winning effort for driver Steve Wiseman, who was in no particular hurry off the gate with his filly. The duo settled away seventh in the early going during the :29.2 opening quarter mile.
They began their rally from seventh on the outside at the very soft 1:01.2 half-mile marker and continued to rally on the outside from fourth at the three-quarters of a mile pole.
The duo drove past the leaders to post a three-quarters-of-one-length tally in 1:58.1. They closed with a :27.3 final quarter and an eye-opening :55.2 final half.
The victory marked WhatitdoBabyBoo’s third straight win and was a new lifetime mark. The filly is owned by Van Oterloo Stables and trained by David Flynn. She paid just $2.80 as the race favourite.
The next card of live racing at Running Aces will head to post on Wednesday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. (CDT).
