Keepers Destiny settled for a pocket trip behind Jinglejanglejingle but then popped back out to steal the spotlight down the stretch in the featured $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace at Grand River Raceway

on Wednesday evening.

Keepers Destiny and driver Paul MacKenzie took command of the field off the gate from the inside post position but Jinglejanglejingle (Jason Brewer) had her sights set on the top spot and swept up to take over at the :26.2 opening quarter.

Jinglejanglejingle led the way to the half in :55.3, at which point Cheap Motel (Anthony MacDonald) moved first over from fourth. In a matter of strides, she was alongside the leader, but was unable to gain the upper hand as Jinglejanglejingle pressed on and hit three-quarters in 1:25.

As the field rounded the final turn, MacKenzie pulled Keepers Destiny from the pocket and the duo took over command just before the wire to score in 1:55.1. Jinglejanglejingle finished three-quarters of a length behind with Michelles Idea (Trevor Henry) scooting up the rail for third.

Keepers Destiny paid $9.50 as the 7-2 third choice. The five-year-old daughter of Intrepid Seelster-Keeper Flying notched her third win of the season in 12 outings and pushed her earnings to $41,490 for trainer Phil Coleman and owner Merlin Howse of Langton, Ont. The victory was her 18th lifetime and upped her career bankroll to $224,017.
