Blue Meadow Willie has a shot to secure back-to-back winning performances in the Wednesday night feature at Red Shores at Summerside.
The six-year-old gelding, co-owned by Bob and Brenda MacInnis, of Summerside, was able to chase down fraction setter Tobins Star, owned by Philip Doucette, Miscouche and Thomas Lynch, Summerside, in the stretch to win in 1:57.1. Both horses leave from the same post positions as last week.
There are a couple other horses in the class coming off victories. Courtside, trained by Mitchell Tierney, stopped the timer in 1:58.1 while Jacks Pride and LongN Winding Road have also been impressive. Veterans Porthill Alf and Canaco Paso complete the line-up in the seven-horse field.
The Ralph MacInnis Memorial will go to post in Race 3. Hooters Hanover, out of the Mathew and John Montgomery Stable of Borden, has been established as the morning line favourite for driver Norris Rogers. Smackwater Jack and Hoofnhome are also triactor candidates.
First-race post time is 7:00 p.m.
