Trainer Richard Moreau is enjoying one of his best seasons ever on the WEG circuit, and on Tuesday night he bolstered his already impressive stats
with a three-win performance.
Moreau, who teamed up with fellow Quebec native Sylvain Filion in all three victories, got the ball rolling with Dakota Noc in Race 3. The four-year-old son of Pearl River Matt front-stepped his way to a 1:53.2 triumph for owner Joan Cassell of Smiths Falls, ON.
Omega Bayama gave Moreau and Filion another trip to victory lane thanks to his 1:51 triumph in Race 7. It was the second consecutive score for the six-year-old son of High Profile, who is owned by Ecurie Richard Moreau Inc of Puslinch, ON and Sylvain Descheneaux of Sorel-Tracy, QC.
Longshot lovers could have filled their pockets on Canbec Fridolin in Race 8, as that Moreau-trained and Filion-driven gelding roared home to win in 1:54.1 at odds of 40-1. The five-year-old son of Cherry Hills pulled off the upset for the partnership of Tourmana Inc of Becancour, QC and Lapharmaciedekedgewick Inc of Kedgwick, NB.
Moreau’s 57 wins on the WEG circuit in 2010 gives him a third-place ranking behind Ben Baillargeon (67 wins) and Shawn Robinson (62 wins).
