While Dreamfair Eternal has cemented herself as one of the top pacing mares in the sport, one of her younger siblings, Dreamfair Kovu, was putting in the first charted line

of his career during Mohawk Racetrack's Tuesday morning qualifying session.

Out of the same mare (J Cs Nathalie) that produced millionaires Dreamfair Vogel and Dreamfair Eternal, 'Kovu,' a chestnut colt by P Forty Seven, took part in the sixth qualifying race this morning at the Campbellville, Ont. oval.

Earlier this spring, owner John Lamers commented to the Woodbine Entertainment Group that he was high on the youngster.

"There is a P Forty Seven two-year-old, his name is Dreamfair Kovu, my granddaughter named him," Lamers explained. "He's a chestnut, and the first chestnut that I have had, but he looks the part. Touch wood and all that, but he looks really good. Same attitude, same everything that the rest of the family has."

Starting off from Post 6 this morning with pilot Randy Waples calling the shots, 'Kovu' left out and was first the opening quarter-mile station, which was clicked off in :29.4.

The colt cut the middle fractions in :58.3 and 1:28 before extending his lead in the stretch.

Dreamfair Kovu went on to record an eight and a half-length victory in 1:55.3 off a :27.3 final quarter mile.
