Chester Racetrack in Pennsylvania has announced that Super Stakes Sunday, the richest day in Pennsylvania standardbred racing, will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia for the first time ever.

The one-hour show -- a special edition of the weekly PA HarnessWeek television program -- will air on Sunday, August 16 at 5:30 p.m. Emmy award winning sportscaster Lou Tilley will serve as special guest host alongside regular hosts Steve Ross and Heather Moffett.

Super Stakes Sunday, an annual event since 2007, honours southeastern Pennsylvania’s racing heritage at long lost venues like Liberty Bell Park and Brandywine Raceway. It brings back the Battle of the Brandywine for three-year-old pacers, the Colonial Trot for three-year-olds and the Valley Forge for three-year-old pacing fillies. Total purses for the day exceed $2.4 million and include $500,000 each for the Battle of the Brandywine and the Colonial.

Earl Beal, Jr., president of the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association, said:

“Harness fans throughout eastern Pennsylvania have embraced the return of harness racing at Harrah’s Chester, and Super Stakes Sunday is the premier event," said Earl Beal, Jr., president of the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association. "We’re delighted to be able to bring it to our fans on live television for the first time, and also hope to attract some new fans as well.”
