The lightly raced trotting filly Show Me The Green has found her best stride, winning five in a row to remain undefeated in her sophomore season.
Show Me The Green's latest victory on Friday, Aug. 1 in a $7,200 conditioned trot to open the Grand River Raceway card was a career-best in 1:56.3. Driver Dale Spence put her in play heading to half-mile mark and wore down the favoured sophomore gelding Tencaratgold (Anthony Haughan) on the front to win by half a length.
Trainer Kyle Ruhl appears to have figured out the filly, who made miscues in her first three qualifiers this year before joining his stable in June without issue for owner Triple S Equine of Newton, Ont.
After going winless in four Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots starts as a freshman and making breaks in three of those races, Show Me The Green has taken a liking to Grand River Raceway, where she has earned four of her five wins with the other over Georgian Downs.
Sent postward as the 3-1 second choice, the daughter of Green Manalishi S out of One Girl Show IT paid $8.10 to win.
