Town Delinquent Dashes In Preferred

Driver Austin Sorrie circled Town Delinquent around dueling leaders up the backstretch and got the better of stubborn favourite Saulsbrook Jessie to win the $13,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace at Georgian Downs on Saturday (July 31).

Saulsbrook Jessie forced Manhattan Night to take the pocket to a :26.3 first quarter and snagged a breather to a :55 half as Sly Eleanor N marched uncovered into the backstretch. Sorrie grabbed that one’s cover with Town Delinquent, but soon sent the five-year-old Up The Credit mare three wide as the outer tier stalled to three-quarters in 1:23.1. Saulsbrook Jessie continued to fight on the lead around the last turn and through the stretch, but Town Delinquent rolled with the most momentum to win by a half length in 1:51.4. Manhattan Night finished third with Twin B Tipster closing for fourth.

Owned by Don Beanland, Town Delinquent won her third race from 10 starts this season and her 10th from 48 overall, earning $81,586. Richard Moreau trains the $6.50 winner.
