She captured both initial legs of the In Free Trotting Series at Mohawk Racetrack over the past two weeks, but the connections of Warrawee Lassie have opted not to enter her in Sunday night’s $47,200 final, choosing instead to point her towards her first Ontario Sires Stakes Gold elimination, on Monday, August 3

.

With her dominating presence eliminated, the In Free Trotting Series final, for two-year-old fillies, is up for grabs this Sunday, August 2.

One filly worth watching is Rob Fellows trainee, Gliding Fashion, whose inexperience prompted a break behind the gate in the series opener on July 19, but who bounced back to take the sequel a week later by two lengths over Julia Jet and Tymal Tiara. The Yankee Glide daughter may be able to capitalize on that positive result in the final, and certainly won’t be hampered by her post position (No. 4). She’s rated the 2-1 favourite in the field of nine. Sylvain Filion will be in the bike.

Wayne Henry’s Linda Lovelegs, a daughter of Muscles Yankee, may also be primed to improve on her misfire in the In Free first leg. She sat out the sequel in order to tackle the Bud Light series at Flamboro Downs, July 26, and the redirect paid off with a second-place cheque. Though this lightly-raced lass has yet to visit the winner’s circle in three starts, four may prove the charm if Henry, who will drive, can engineer the right kind of trip from post No. 7. Linda Lovelegs is rated 5-2 in the morning line.

Frank O’Reilly, who trains the absent Warrawee Lassie, is sending two other fillies from his shedrow behind the gate in the In Free final: Excellence, a Kadabra daughter who has scored a fourth and a fifth in the series initial legs; and Tymal Tiara, who was third in the series second leg after making her career debut (and breaking stride) at Clinton Raceway on July 19. As a paired entry, the two are rated at 5-1, with Roger Mayotte and Rick Zeron tapped to drive.

Sunday night’s card at Mohawk also features three OSS Gold eliminations for three-year-old pacing colts, making for an exciting summer night of racing at Mohawk.
