Every Day Dan set the pace and dug in down the lane to take the $32,143 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, July 8 at Harrington Raceway.
The six-year-old Dover Dan-Emerald Bling gelding, driven by Mike Cole, led through calls of :28.2, :58.2 and 1:27.1 and held off Willy Wally (Allan Davis) down the lane to win by a neck in 1:56.2. Wily Wally finished second off a pocket trip. Vlahos (Cody Poliseno) was third.
The Joe Columbo-trained Every Day Dan is now five-for-23 this season for George and Tina Dennis Racing. The gelding has won 21 of his 106 career starts. He paid $5.80 to win.
Brandon Givens, Art Stafford Jr., Mike Cole, Eddie Dennis and Tony Morgan each had driving doubles on the 13-race card.
Live racing at Harrington will go on a summer hiatus before a brief return on July 23 for the Delaware State Fair racing card with a special 7 p.m. post time. The meet will then resume on Aug. 17.
