Trainer Thomas Riley and driver Sam Fillion both had good nights at Kawartha Downs on Saturday night (July 8) with Riley scoring a hat trick and Fillion taking five of the 10 races on the card.
Fillion and Riley teamed for a pair of wins on the card. They won back-to-back races on the second half of the card starting with an off-the-pace win by Golden Leader (1:55.3 winning mile; $13.90 to win) in Race 6 and followed with a front-stepping effort by One Last Bet (1:56.1; $3.20) in Race 7. Riley’s other win came in the nightcap with Furiosa (1:55.2; $6.40).
Of Fillion’s other wins, he visited the winner’s circle with Divinne Magic (1:59.4; $4.40), Yose Can Scoot (1:53.4; $32.10) and Chesapeake Sunrise (1:55.4; $2.70).
Riley remains the leading trainer of the current meet at Kawartha Downs with 11 victories. The five-bagger for Fillion expands his lead atop the driver’s standings as he now has 18 victories this meet.
