Lit De Rose Perfect In Preferred

As impressive as Lit De Rose was in defeat in her first start of the year at Woodbine Mohawk Park on July 2, she was even more impressive in Friday’s follow-up performance in the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap.

An O’Brien Award finalist last season, Lit De Rose landed in the four-hole early while Marloe Hanover charged to the lead and whacked out first-half fractions of :26.4 and :56.

Roy had Lit De Rose first-over in the backstretch, and they were alongside Marloe Hanover at the three-quarter pole in 1:23.4. From there, Lit De Rose used a final quarter kick of :27 to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Marloe Hanover in 1:50.4. Karma Seelster took home the show dough.

Sent off as the even-money favourite, the six-year-old daughter of Leader Bayama-Intense recorded her 22nd lifetime victory for owner/breeder Guy Corbeil of Mirabel, QC. Richard Moreau trains the career winner of $330,462.
