Atlantic Grand Circuit Week continues at Truro Raceway on Truro Raceway on Tuesday, July 8 with trotters taking centre stage in Atlantic Sires Stakes action.
Two $10,480 divisions of two-year-old trotters are set for Tuesday. A short field of four trotters in the first division, slated as the first race, are all sired by E L Rocket. Howmac Prime Time (Marc Campbell) is the 5-2 morning line favourite. Dusty Lane Margo (PP2, Jason Hughes, 3-1), Nikway Rocks It (PP4, Myles Heffernan Sr., 7-2) and Emberlees Rocket (PP1, Corey Macpherson, 4-1) comprise the rest of the field.
In the third race, five two-year-old trotters with line up behind the gate with post five starter Mr Old Home Week (Ryan Desroche) the only one of the group that has a pari-mutuel start. Little Louis (Corey MacPherson) has rail control and is the 5-2 morning line choice.
The three-year-old trotters make their seasonal AtSS debut in Races 5 and 7, each division sporting a $10,380 bounty. Oceanview Nikki (PP3, Michael McGuigan, 5-2) gets the nod from the oddsmakers here as she looks for her first win of the year. Dusty Lane Gus (PP2, Ryan Desroche, 3-1) and rail-controlling Fire the Rocket (PP1, Jason Hughes, 7-2) round out the top three picks.
Each of the sophomore trotters in Race 7 will target their first victories of 2025. Last year's Atlantic Breeders Crown Champion West River Jet is the top choice here with the outside post five for driver Kenneth MacDonald. Supreme Rockette (PP1, Michael McGuigan, 3-1), who finished second in last years ABC Championship draws the rail, while Dusty Lane Kahlua (PP1, Ryan Desroche, 3-1) is the third morning line pick.
Points earned in each of the four Atlantic Sires Stakes 'A' division and trot events go towards securing a coveted spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown championships, with the Atlantic Breeders Crown being hosted by Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Oct. 11 and 12. MacRae Backhoe and Trucking is the sponsor for the Atlantic Breeders Crown events.
