Dream On A Roll and driver John MacDonald opened the Friday night card at Vernon Downs with an 18-1 upset in the $6,500 featured fillies and mares pace.

Dream On A Roll went straight to the front and led through panels of :27.2, :57.1 and 1:25.1. Party Queen (Barton Dalious) went first-up going around the final turn and everyone had a shot as the compact field of five headed for home. Second-place finisher Party Queen gave it everything she had but the longest shot on the board, Dream On A Roll, dug in and won in 1:53.3 by a quarter-length. Special Olivia (Steeven Genois) finished one length back in third.

Dream On A Roll is a seven-year-old mare by Roll With Joe. She is owned by Todd Santoro and trained by Gary Gibson. The win was her third this season from a dozen starts and she now has 18 career victories.

She returned $38.40 for a $2 win ticket.

Barton Dalious and Jimmy Whittemore each had driving triples. Joe Nassimos had a driving-training double. Gibson had a training double.

Live harness racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday with a 12-race card matinee featuring the Dr. Harry Zweig Memorial races plus two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for sophomore pacing fillies starting at 12:15 p.m.
