‘Dreaming’ Of An Inverness Upset

The Ray MacKinnon-trained Dream On Dream On ($4.60) had what it took to pull a slight upset on Sunday (July 7) at Inverness Raceway, as the brown gelding was able to collar Intended Royalty in the track’s featured $1,150 Winners-Over Pace.

Ryan Campbell was in the bike behind Dream On Dream On, who started from Post 1 and sat third through the opening quarter (:28.4) and half-mile (:58.2), as the favoured Intended Royalty did the work in the front end.

Campbell tipped Dream On Dream On out for an advance in the third quarter, and the duo was one and a half lengths back from Intended Royalty at the 1:28.1 three quarters pole. A stretch battle ensued in the lane, and when all was said and done it was Dream On Dream On that got up to hit the wire first in 1:57.4. Intended Royalty settled for second and the Lewis MacDonell-driven Windmeredontmatter finished third.

Dream On Dream On is owned by Kayla Habicht Walker of Inverness, Nova Scotia, and he has now won 20 of his 173 career races and $111,000 in purses.
