A pair of $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes (OHSS) gathers 16 pacing colts and gelding behind the Northfield Park starting gate Saturday, July 7 in round three action of the 4-leg series for three-year-olds.
Bounding Dragon headlines the first division. The Dragon Again sophomore colt hails from the Mike Roth barn for owners Alan Keith and Carl & Melanie Atley.
Bred by Emerald Highlands Farm and J&T Silva Stables, Bounding Dragon captured the opening prelim of this series at Miami Valley on May 6 in 1:53, then followed that up with a 1:50.4 clocking in a Hoosier Park overnight. Most recently, he scored a 1:52 victory in a Scioto Downs overnight on June 23 after finishing second by a head in 1:50.4 to Cinnamack in the second OHSS leg.
Bounding Dragon has amassed $136,650 in career earnings and $65,250 this season with six wins, seven seconds and one third in 16 starts lifetime. He is the second and most prolific of four foals out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Bound To Rock.
Kimberly Dailey and Carl & Melanie Atley's Rockathon is the standout in the second OHSS split. The gelded son of Pet Rock was third to Lather Up in the first OHSS leg at Miami Valley on May 6, then captured the second leg on June 9 at Scioto Downs in a career-best of 1:51.1.
Rockathon was bred by Ron Salcedo and sports a bankroll of $186,012 from six wins, four seconds and a trio of thirds in 16 starts lifetime.
Cinnamack, a McArdle colt conditioned by Brian Brown for owner-breeder Emerald Highlands Farm, finished fourth in round one of OHSS competition, then won in the second round in 1:50.4. The lightly-raced sophomore has five wins, a second and a third in 12 starts career and $72,600 in his coffers.
First race post time is 6 p.m., with the OHSS scheduled as races 8 and 11.
